10 Things We Shouldn't Overdo On Facebook
Facebook is a valuable tool for sharing updates with family, friends, and even the public. It’s completely normal to share any topic you want, but overdoing it is what you shouldn’t be doing. There are some posts that you shouldn’t be sharing more than once or twice per week: not multiple times a day! While brainstorming a title for this article, I was very tempted to name it “10 Annoying Facebook Users” for active users who have nothing else to do but share three posts every half an hour and poke people on Facebook all day long. Had I named it so, the idea would come across as it’s annoying to share a mouthwatering food video on how to make a Nutella cheesecake bar. It is only annoying when we open our Facebook feed and all we see is hundreds of recipe videos you sponsored for BuzzFeed Food. As a matter of fact, I learned it the hard way when I used to excessively share my religious and political thoughts. Doing so made me lose some followers, even friends. I noticed that odds are only a few people will be convinced, and an argument will more than likely start. Check out the following things you shouldn’t overdo so you won’t come across as the “annoying” Facebook friend:
1. “My newborn farted!”: Can I get 20,000 likes and 5,000 shares, please?
Don’t get us wrong. We enjoy watching the adorable videos and photos you post of your baby. You are just overwhelming us with all their awesomeness.
2. The Daily “Salvation” Reminder.
Reminders are always good because it is of our nature that we tend to forget. But we are not that forgetful that you should be reminding us multiple times a day that we are saved and forgiven.
3. The proud sponsor of “The Food Network”.
Share another DIY “Stuffed Steak Garlic Bread” food video, and we will make you make a dish for all of us! You are making us hungry…
4. The four inevitable choices: share, like, comment, or scroll down to go to hell.
We have all come across those creepy posts saying you will be forever cursed if you scroll down without at least liking it. Can I get an Amen!
5. Let’s have a little chat about your profile photo.
You don’t have to update them every day, and please, no closeups.
#6. #Inserting #a #hashtag #for #every #word.
I’m guilty of that too. Hashtags are very efficient for connecting with other people we do not know.
7. Over-liking your own posts.
Unless there is a photo you were tagged in, there is no need to like all of the posts you shared.
8. Emojis gone way too far.
Have you ever seen a post where someone has emojis on the right and left of every sentence?
9. The Wannabe Journalist.
Great job on constantly updating us with news that hasn’t aired on CNN yet.
10. Check-in on the go.
“You can run but you can’t hide.” It’s tempting to share what’s happening in our lives, but I honestly don’t think our friends care that we are shopping, in Starbucks, at Disney World, or filling up on gas.
That’s only the beginning! There are still many things we overdo on Facebook that I haven’t mentioned. What do you usually find yourself overdoing on Facebook?
